MP Nadim Gemayel expressed hope for the return of Kataeb political bureau member Boutros Khawand and all other detainees who have been held in Syrian jails for decades, hailing the fall of what he described as the "criminal Assad regime."
Speaking to Voice of Lebanon radio, Gemayel highlighted the significance of this turning point for Lebanon and the broader region, saluting all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives while standing against the Syrian regime and extending solidarity to all those who lost loved ones to the regime's brutality.
"The path to justice may be long, but it is inevitable," he said. "What has happened today is a profound lesson for Lebanon and the Arab world: anything out of balance is bound to fail. It is time to solidify democracy and freedom."
Gemayel emphasized the need for unity to rebuild Lebanon, stating that non-state weapons have lost their value.
"What matters now is staying united to build a nation. This trust is our responsibility, and Assad has now been swept away by the tide of disgraced history."
