Nadim Gemayel Says Free Patriotic Movement Sold Itself to Hezbollah

Kataeb Lawmaker Nadim Gemayel considered that the Free Patriotic Movement sold itself to Hezbollah which aims at destroying institutions and imposing a game that suits it, deeming what is happening in the Parliament as an undemocratic game.

“Nothing new concerning the presidential elections. What is happening is a poorly-acted farce. The problem today lies in imposing a coalition process, which means that what is happening is an undemocratic and unconstitutional game,” Gemayel said in an interview with LBCI before the ninth presidential elections session.

Kataeb Lawmaker voiced his concern over Hezbollah’s control over the country and its institutions, saying that everybody knows that if officials do not elect a president imposed by Hezbollah then Lebanon will be in total collapse.

“Time has come to overturn the equations. This existing balance does not lead anywhere but rather to the destruction of institutions and of the democratic State,” he noted.

He deemed what Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, Gebran Bassil and Hezbollah are trying to do as unconstitutional, saying that all these acts aim at destroying the Lebanese State.

When asked about the conflict between Hezbollah and Gebran Bassil, Gemayel said: “What happened is very clear. The Free Patriotic Movement sold itself to the devil i.e. Hezbollah whose aim is destroying institutions. It imposed a game that suits it and does not suit Bassil who consider himself the victim.”
