Nadim Gemayel: Lebanon Cannot Afford Another War or Be a Battleground for Others

MP Nadim Gemayel said Wednesday that Lebanon must focus on strengthening State authority, establishing a State monopoly on weapons and pursuing a negotiated settlement with Israel, while warning that the country can no longer afford another war.

“October 7 will remain a lesson for history and for the future,” Gemayel wrote on X.

“What matters to us today is extending the State’s authority, ensuring that weapons are held exclusively by the State, and supporting negotiations with Israel to reach a final resolution,” he said.

Gemayel said Lebanon must not again become a battleground for conflicts that serve the interests of others.

“Lebanon can no longer afford another war, and it must not become a battleground for other people’s conflicts or for wars of support that are entirely detached from the interests of Lebanon and its people,” he said.
