Nadim Gemayel from Houston: Hezbollah's or Axis Candidate Will Not Be Elected

Kataeb Lawmaker Nadim Gemayel, arrived in Texas, Houston, accompanied by Head of Diaspora Department of the Kataeb Party, Michel Hrawi, to participate in the party’s activities and a series of meeting with the Lebanese diaspora.

Gemayel and the Kataeb delegation were welcomed by President of Kataeb USA Section Tony Fares, President of Kataeb Houston Chapter Joseph Rouhana, Vice President Khalil Bejjani and a number of Kataeb members.

"Lebanon is losing its identity, freedom, and culture, due to the control of an axis represented by a party aiming at changing the Lebanese identity," Gemayel pointed out during  a tribute dinner hosted in his honor by businessman Pierre Merhi.

He stressed the importance of the crucial role of the opposition in preserving what remains of Lebanon.

"This role began during the parliamentary elections, and we continue it today to prevent their presidential candidate from being elected,” he emphasized.

"What distinguishes us as Lebanese is that there is a fundamental bond that unites us with our country, through our culture and civilization that we carry with us wherever we find ourselves, especially hospitality and reception," Gemayel noted.

“I am very proud and happy to meet the Lebanese expatriate. I was lucky during my tour in the United States, to meet comrades for the first time, which will enable us to improve our communication. Your role is of great importance in the Lebanese affairs and political work. We are in need of your political and moral support, because our country is going through a very difficult phase. Lebanese people are living in a state of conflict due to the political decisions that have been made," he noted.

He addressed the Lebanese diaspora by saying: "Your role in these circumstances is very important through internal communication and through your relationships with members of Congress and public policy to support the Lebanese homeland and achieve the desired goals to preserve our presence and political role in the Middle East."

"The Lebanese political situation is extremely dire, and most of you left the country to escape the bad economic situation, but despite all the calamities, we must love our homeland, preserve it and carry it in our hearts and the hearts of our children as our heroes did in the past," he went on saying.

"Make sure that we, as people in a position of responsibility in Lebanon, will exert our utmost efforts to get things on the right track. Thus, when everything goes back how it used to be,you will be proud of your country," he indicated.

Gemayel called for collective efforts to restore “Lebanon, the country of freedoms, democracy and equality among the Lebanese, the homeland of justice, that we will be proud of when raising its flag all over the world.”

The dinner was attended by Father Milad Yaghi, Father Edouard Hanna, and Father Joseph Jreij, as well as Head of Diaspora Department at the Kataeb Party, Michel Hrawi, President of Kataeb USA Section, Tony Fares along with members of the Lebanese diaspora in Houston.
