Nadim Gemayel Condemns Hezbollah’s 2023 War Move, Says Only State Authority Can Preserve Stability

MP Nadim Gemayel on Tuesday sharply criticized Hezbollah's unilateral decision to drag Lebanon into war in support of Gaza, saying this decision has inflicted severe damage on the country, leaving Lebanon vulnerable to foreign agendas.

“On October 7 and 8, 2023, a decision was made that destroyed Lebanon. A country that has always paid a heavy price whenever drawn into others’ conflicts found itself held hostage by foreign agendas that had nothing to do with its interests," Gemayel wrote on X. "This was not a Lebanese decision, nor was it based on national priorities. It was the product of illusions and empty promises."

The MP emphasized the need for Lebanon to prioritize State sovereignty and the disarmament of militias as the foundation for stability.

“Stability is not preserved through slogans, but by upholding the State and enforcing the disarmament of militias,” he said.

Gemayel wrapped up his message by calling on Lebanon’s leaders and citizens to stay true to the country’s course.

"The key lesson is to keep Lebanon on the path toward statehood and sovereignty," he concluded.
