MP Nadim Gemayel called for a municipal council in Beirut that prioritizes sustainable development and essential public services, as the capital continues to grapple with chronic infrastructure and environmental challenges.
In a post on X, the Kataeb lawmaker said Beirut “deserves a genuinely developmental municipality,” and outlined three key priorities for the city’s future.
Gemayel called for the establishment of an independent electricity production system to ensure sustainable energy supply, as Lebanon faces persistent nationwide power shortages.
He also urged the implementation of advanced, environmentally friendly solutions to manage and eliminate solid waste.
Moreover, Gemayel advocated for the creation of wastewater treatment plants, saying the move is essential to protect public health, preserve the environment, and prevent further pollution of the sea.
