Minister Suspends University Classes for a Week as Military Events Unfold

Minister of Education, Abbas Halabi, has announced the suspension of teaching activities across all universities in Lebanon, including the Lebanese University and private institutions, for a week due to the escalating events in the country.

The suspension will take effect from Monday, September 30, 2024, until the evening of Sunday, October 6, 2024.

While educational activities will be on hold, administrative and logistical operations are set to continue in these institutions. However, in university centers directly impacted by the ongoing military situation, there will be a complete suspension of all activities. The decision regarding which centers are required to halt operations will be left to the discretion of the respective university administrations.

Despite the general suspension, certain essential sectors will remain active, including medical, pharmaceutical, and health centers. Other specialized centers, whose roles and responsibilities demand continuous operation, will also maintain their activities during this period.
