Mikati: Stop the Obstructionist Behavior and Elect a President as Soon as Possible

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati considered that without the support provided by the Lebanese army to citizens, the crisis that Lebanon is going through would have been more severe.

Mikati indicated in the 3rd Emigrants Economic Conference held at Hotel Phoenicia that the conference is being held today against the backdrop of the ongoing presidential vacuum.

According to him, internal parties have firmly held onto positions that do not permit any room for compromise, while external mediation efforts have also reached a deadlock.

"The government is not responsible for the presidential vacuum and the renewed political conflicts among the political components, and it is not the one preventing presidential elections," he noted.

"Elect a new president as soon as possible and all the fabricated issues will disappear. Spare the people and cease creating tensions and useless disputes. Stop the negative approach, obstructionist behavior, and sectarian incitement," he concluded.
