Mikati Overseeing Storm's Impact, Ensuring Safety Measures in Lebanon

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati has been actively overseeing the impact of the ongoing climate storm in Lebanon and evaluating measures to minimize its repercussions. Mikati received reassurance that there were no reported human casualties, and all necessary field actions were being implemented.

In response, Mikati reached out to the Minister of Public Works and Transport, Ali Hamiyah, to assess the flooding of highways and roads, as well as the preparedness of ministry teams to clear snow-blocked mountain roads. He also communicated with the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Bassam Mawlawi, to understand the municipalities' readiness to intervene, open roads, and assist citizens.

Additionally, Mikati contacted Beirut Governor, Judge Marwan Abboud, and Mayor Abdullah Darwish, urging the urgent dispatch of bulldozers to address the emergency situation at the mouth of the Beirut River. Recognizing the efforts of Civil Defense personnel, he spoke with the Director of Civil Defense, Brigadier General Raymond Khattar, who has been actively involved in rescuing citizens affected by water puddles on roads since the previous night.
