The Biden Administration vetoed this approach, warning of potential regional or global escalation. Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati arrived in Egypt this morning to participate in the "United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27"), which will be held over two days in Sharm El-Sheikh, at the joint invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and the United Nations.
The Lebanese delegation to the conference includes Environment Minister Nasser Yassin and Lebanon's Ambassador to Egypt Ali Al-Halabi.
It is expected that Mikati would deliver a speech in the working sessions of the conference, and hold a series of meetings with a number of leaders, presidents and officials.
The annual conference is attended by 197 countries in a bid to discuss climate change and ways to address this problem.
