Cristiano Ronaldo will not be the only major name from European football to be heading to Saudi Arabia over the next few years.
Having had his move to Al Nassr confirmed earlier in the week, attention for the Saudi Arabian clubs has turned to other big names.
As MARCA has been reporting, Saudi football, with Al Nassr at the head, want to raise the country to the elite of the world's most followed sport. In the last few days, the president and directors have been in Madrid testing the possibility of expanding the roster of stars in the near future.
There is Sergio Ramos, but the latest to appear on their wish list has been Luka Modric.
The Croatian had a World Cup to remember. The gesture of kissing the third-placed team's medal after beating Morocco sums it up perfectly.
He showed that he still has all of the ability, something he shows every time he pulls on the Real Madrid shirt, as was evident on December 30 against Real Valladolid.
Modric wants to continue playing for Real Madrid for at least one more season because his quality warrants it. He has been rejecting highly lucrative proposals from Saudi Arabia and the United States. It matters little that he is 37 years old.
Modric wants to stay at Real Madrid and the club are delighted with his decision. For the moment he has no offer of renewal, but the agreement will not be a problem. The reality is that two teams have approached him and his response has been clear: "Let's talk in 2024", making it clear what his objective and aspiration is.
Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr is very serious about being the Real Madrid of the Arab world. Now CR7 has joined, in the summer of 2023 they want Ramos and in 2024, Modric.
