The Kataeb party on Tuesday stressed that the Lebanese politicians are processing in a direction against the interest of the Lebanese people; saying that they are investing new ways to deepen the country’s quagmire.
“Lebanon is witnessing a very significant financial and economic crisis with the fall of the value of the Lebanese pound. The ruling class is not catering to the needs of the population that cannot cope with the increased cost of living,” read a statement issued by the Kataeb pollical bureau following its weekly meeting at the party’s headquarters in Saifi.
“The country has collapsed under the burden of the current crises. Holding this feckless ruling class accountable is the only way to save Lebanon from this economic catastrophe triggered by decades of bad governance and corruption perpetrated by these same political blocs,” it stressed.
“The silence is no longer allowed. The authority’s ongoing presence in the rule has become the greatest danger to the survival of the country and its people,” the political bureau added, calling on the Lebanese to express their rejection of this reality by all available means without any delay.
The political bureau warned against the presented arguments in a bid to suspend the parliamentary elections that are scheduled for spring 2022 through invoking the lack of funds of Lebanese expats’ voting or intimidating the Lebanese people.
“We call on the international community to continue supporting the upcoming parliamentary elections that should be held under the international supervision in a bid to ensure its transparency and democracy,” it emphasized.
“We call for the application of the constitution, the law and all international decisions, after friday’s explosion in Bourj al-Shemali. We believe that all weapons should be confiscated and the Lebanese army is the only that can ensure stability and security,” it stressed.
The political bureau deems the lawsuit filed against former lawmaker Fares Souaid by Hezbollah as an alibi in a bid to create a sectarian strife, condemning the silencing of the activists and prosecuting them for voicing their opinions.
