Waste Collection Company Ramco Asks State to Launch Tender for Its Replacement

Ramco, the company contracted by the state to collect waste in Metn, Kesrouan and part of Beirut, on Wednesday said it has asked the Reconstruction and Development Council to launch a new tender to find a firm to replace it.

Here’s what we know:

• In a statement, Ramco said that its withdrawal comes after seven months of calling on authorities “to abide by the contract with CDR and the municipality of Beirut, which did not happen, causing huge financial losses,” that put the company in a “crisis that threatened its existence.”

• The company added that it is willing to assist the state by selling its equipment to whatever firm is selected for the tender in order to prevent “a new garbage crisis that threatens the health of citizens.”
