Derian Welcomes Saudi Ambassador: Relations Will Remain Firm, Robust

Grand Mufti of the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, on Tuesday welcomed at Dar Al-Fatwa Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, with whom he discussed the situation in Lebanon and the region.

A statement issued in the wake of the meeting said that Ambassador Bukhari stressed the importance of constant communication with Dar Al-Fatwa “the moderate religious and national reference, which maintains its comprehensive role amid the crises that Lebanon is witnessing."

He affirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was keen on the security and stability of Lebanon and its institutions, on the promotion of Islamic-Christian coexistence, and on its brotherly relations between the two countries.

Moreover, Bukhari dismissed as illegitimate any project or discourse of sedition or any project that jumps above Lebanon’s Arab identity.

He expressed his sympathy and love for the Lebanese people who are struggling for the freedom, sovereignty, and Arabism of their country.

For his part, Mufti Derian voiced great appreciation for the KSA’s insistence not to abandon Lebanon and its people despite the unfair stances against the Kingdom by some Lebanese parties.

He pointed out that the relationship between Lebanon and Saudi Arabia was and will always remain firm and robust.
