“Gebran Tueini a rebel until martyrdom,” Gemayel remembered, on his Twitter page, the late journalist and editor-in-chief of the local daily newspaper Annahar, who was killed in 2005.
In his turn, Hankache evoked Tueini’s most famous speech of March 2005 during the Cedar Revolution demonstrations: “In the name of God we, Muslims and Christians, pledge that we shall remain united to the end of time to better defend our Lebanon.”
“The oath you’ve pledged in the Martyrs’ Square has turned into a reality, Muslims and Christians are standing united to build a country,” Hankache tweeted.
“The youths you once addressed have now protested and they are changing the course of history, to defend the great Lebanon,” he added.
