Kataeb Leader Ripostes to Authority's Repressive Approach on Freedom of Speech

In the light of the authority’s repressive practices, the silencing dissent policy against citizens and the repeated encroachments on the press freedom in Lebanon, Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel addressed the authority figures on Saturday pointing toward international news articles that appraise the economic situation in the country.

“In case you would like to summon them for investigation…,” Gemayel disdainfully wrote on Twitter in a stand against the eliminatory approach to subdue and marginalize freedom of speech in the country.

Gemayel listed the following three recent articles on Lebanon’s economy: Bloomberg’s “Lebanon May Soon Issue One of the Juiciest Eurobonds in History,” The Economist’s “A long-feared currency crisis has begun to bite in Lebanon,” and The Independent’s “In Beirut, I can no longer get American dollars out of the ATM. This is what it tells me about Lebanon’s economy.”
