Hankache Criticizes Attempts to Muzzle Freedoms and Alter Lebanon's Identity

As part of the launched freedom of speech campaign, Kataeb MP Elias Hankache on Saturday criticized attempts in Lebanon to muzzle free voices and to alter the country's identity into one of subordination and suppression.

“Freedom is the foundation of this country. Ways to confiscate freedoms is tampering with Lebanon’s fundamental identity,” Hankache told Voice of Lebanon radio station.

“Freedom should be preserved in Lebanon and it is unacceptable that instead of finding ways to help the country grow along with people’s skills and talents, we are struggling and fighting to restore Lebanon’s stature,” he condemned.

“Lebanon is safeguarded by martyrs’ sacrifices.”

“Chances aren’t lost but we must learn from history. It ought to be the most influential school to help us develop,” he stated.
