Kataeb Students Warn Against Silencing Dissent Policy

The Kataeb's Students and Youth Department on Friday slammed the government’s suppression of freedoms, its mulling over the modification of the Publication Act and harassment of journalists who are voicing out distressed citizens’ outcry against the failure of the ruling authority’s economic policy.

“They have failed in managing the country and curbing corruption; they have instead turned towards partitioning of shares as a block of cheese which has led to regression and collapse,” the Kataeb's Students and Youth Department said in a statement.

“The displacement of the youths, filling their pockets and starving the people strategies were not enough. Here they are trying to the silencing dissent policy by increased citizens’ summoning who have expressed their pain and rejection of the status quo on social media,” the statement added.

The Kataeb's Students and Youth Department warned against proceeding with these practices, calling for the Lebanese youths from all regions, schools and universities to perform an uprising to the status quo and be ready to face attempts to curtain the truth and tame the citizens.
