Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel on Monday voiced relief over the decision to move the Sunday flea market from its current location, saying that it is time for the state to directly control and supervise the place.
“The residents of Sin el Fil used to avoid the area on Saturdays and Sundays due to security reasons and the violations were committed here,” Gemayel told reporters during a visit to the flea market in Sin El Fil.
“We hope that the calls for relocating the Sunday flea market would be answered with all the efforts exerted by Sin El Fil's Mayor Nabil Kahaleh, the governor and the city’s lawmakers. We are optimistic because we haven’t heard anyone objecting to this move," he added.
The Kataeb leader stressed that this decision, if implemented, would serve as a great gift to the area's residents.
