Lebanon’s New Army Chief and Top U.S. General Discuss Military Support, Ceasefire Progress

The top acting U.S. military general spoke with Lebanon's new army chief on Tuesday to discuss U.S. support for the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and regional security developments, the Pentagon said.

Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Christopher Grady held a phone call with Lebanese Army Commander General Rodolphe Haykal, where they addressed ongoing U.S. assistance to the LAF, the progress of the Hezbollah-Israel ceasefire mechanism, and recent developments in Syria.

"The U.S. and Lebanon share a strong commitment to pursuing durable and sustainable security and stability in the Middle East," the Pentagon statement said.
