Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs Condemns Rafah Massacre

Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants on Tuesday issued a statement denouncing the continued Israeli occupation's massacres against civilians in the Gaza Strip.

The latest of these atrocities was the deliberate targeting of Palestinian refugee tents near an UNRWA facility northwest of the Palestinian city of Rafah, resulting in dozens of casualties, including fatalities and injuries.

“This brazen defiance constitutes a blatant disregard for the recent ruling by the International Court of Justice demanding Israel to cease its military operations in Rafah,” the statement read.

The ministry emphasized that such attacks constitute clear and grave violations of international laws, relevant international legitimacy resolutions, and are classified as war crimes and genocide. “These actions obstruct efforts to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire agreement, exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and threaten to widen and intensify the conflict in the region,” the statement added.

Calling upon the international community to swiftly and effectively intervene, Lebanon’s MoFA urged for maximum pressure on Israel to compel its compliance with relevant international legitimacy resolutions and humanitarian laws, as well as the execution of rulings issued by the International Court of Justice, in order to put an end to this humanitarian catastrophe.
