Military units have been deployed across several towns in southern Lebanon's eastern border region, as Israeli forces completed their withdrawal, the Lebanese Army Command announced on Sunday.
The Lebanese Army's deployment in the towns of Rab Thalathin, Bani Hayyan, and Talousseh – all located in the Marjayoun district – comes in coordination with the Quintet Committee, which oversees the ceasefire agreement under the UN’s Mechanism.
The Lebanese Army has been engaged in engineering surveys and road-clearing operations within these areas, as the region begins to stabilize following the Israeli pullback. The Lebanese Army Command has called on citizens to abide by the guidance of the deployed military units in order to ensure their safety.
Additionally, the Lebanese Army continues to work closely with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to monitor developments in border areas. This cooperation is carried out within the framework of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, which was established to maintain peace in the region.
Reports from the National News Agency (NNA) indicated that Israeli forces have erected earth berms, cutting off the roads that connect Rab Thalathin to the neighboring town of Adaisseh. Israeli forces have also been reportedly burning down homes and other civilian property in the town of Kfarkila as part of their ongoing operations.
Furthermore, Israeli Army Radio reported that Israeli forces are now moving towards a full withdrawal from the eastern sector of southern Lebanon’s border region. The withdrawal process is being closely monitored by both the Lebanese military and UNIFIL, as the region seeks to return to a state of stability following recent conflicts.
