Lebanese President Calls for Self-Restraint and Trust in Military Amid Tensions

As tensions flared in southern Lebanon following Israel's failure to meet the withdrawal deadline stipulated in the ceasefire agreement, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun issued a statement underscoring the nation’s sovereignty and reaffirming the unwavering commitment of the Lebanese Armed Forces to protect its people.

“This is a day of victory for Lebanon and the Lebanese people—a victory for justice, sovereignty, and national unity,” President Aoun declared in an address to the residents of southern Lebanon.

In his statement, President Aoun celebrated the return of displaced citizens to their homes in the south while urging caution and patience.

“As I share in this great joy with you, I urge you to exercise self-restraint and place your trust in the Lebanese Armed Forces, which remain steadfast in protecting our sovereignty, ensuring your security, and facilitating your safe return to your homes and villages,” he said.

The president emphasized that Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are sacrosanct and not open to compromise.

“Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are non-negotiable, and I am closely following this issue at the highest levels to safeguard your rights and dignity,” he affirmed, underscoring his commitment to addressing these concerns through diplomatic and governmental channels.

“The Lebanese army stands by you always; wherever you are, it will be there, fully committed to your protection and security.”

President Aoun concluded his statement with a call for unity and resilience, urging citizens to remain steadfast in their commitment to Lebanon’s sovereignty.

“Together, we will remain stronger, united under the banner of Lebanon,” he declared, reaffirming his vision for a united and secure nation.
