The Lebanese Army on Thursday strongly denied claims that some of its personnel are affiliated with or loyal to Hezbollah, warning against the spread of “dubious information” that could damage its reputation.
In a statement, the Army said all its members adhere to a “clear and steadfast military doctrine” and pledge full loyalty to both the armed forces and the nation. It called on the public not to circulate unverified reports, particularly during Lebanon’s current sensitive political and security environment.
The clarification followed a report distributed by a Khamenei-affiliated website, which claimed that 30 percent of Lebanese military personnel were associated with Hezbollah. The Army described the report as entirely false.
“Such claims are completely unfounded. All our members maintain a clear military ethos and are fully committed to the Lebanese Armed Forces and the country,” the statement said.
