Lebanese Army Commander Meets U.S. General to Discuss Ceasefire Monitoring Mechanisms

Army Commander General Joseph Aoun met with U.S. Army Major General Jasper Jeffers, the head of the international committee tasked with overseeing the ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel, at his office in Yarzeh.

The two military leaders discussed the current situation and explored the coordination mechanisms between the various parties involved in the monitoring process in southern Lebanon.

Maj. Gen. Jeffers, who currently serves as the Commanding General of Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT), has an extensive background in military operations. He previously served as an advisor to the Commander of Operation Resolute Support in Afghanistan. Later, Jeffers assumed brigade command within the U.S. Army Special Operations Command and played a significant role in Operation Inherent Resolve, which focuses on the U.S.-led coalition’s efforts in Iraq and Syria.
