The Lebanese Army announced that it is carrying on the deployment of troops across the western sector of southern Lebanon following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) confirmed that units are being stationed in key border towns and villages, including Ras al-Naqoura, Alma al-Shaab, Dhayra, Aytaroun, Bint Jbeil, Tayr Harfa, Majdal Zoun, Salhani, and Qouzah.
The deployment is being conducted in coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and a five-member committee tasked with supervising the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Lebanon, the statement noted.
The LAF issued a warning to residents, urging them to stay away from the newly deployed areas until military engineering units complete their work. Specialized teams are conducting surveys to clear unexploded ordnance, open roads, and remove debris left behind in the conflict.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army reported carrying out a drone strike earlier in the day in southern Lebanon. According to the Israeli military, the strike targeted Hezbollah operatives seen leaving a building associated with the group in the village of Kounine.
The army stated that the strike was launched “to remove a threat.”
Lebanese media reported two individuals were wounded in the attack, with the country’s health ministry confirming the injuries.
