Whether it’s to fill in gaps in squads that have become clear following injuries or bans, or whether clubs need a boost in areas they didn’t realise they required in the summer, fans are already discussing which players their club needs to bring in.

Thankfully, there a range of talented players overseas that can come in to help them for the second half of the 2023/24 season.

These aren’t just any old footballers, either.

World Cup winners and England star Jude Bellingham‘s Real Madrid teammates are among those whose contracts are ticking towards their expiry date this summer. There’s also a few rising talents being battled over, too.

In truth, there’s more than one player we could’ve chosen for each position in a team made up of potential best Premier League January signings. So, who are these players your sides could swoop in for? talkSPORT.com has devised a best XI that your club could consider…

Goalkeeper – Andriy Lunin (Real Madrid)

Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin was replaced by Chelsea loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga following Thibaut Courtois’ injury.

His contract expires this summer leaving his position in question.

And given his side have won all games with him in goal this season (3) and he’s only 24 years old, making him a great investment.

Right-back – Ridle Baku (Wolfsburg)

Previously linked with Arsenal and Wolves over the summer, the 25-year-old’s contract expires in June 2025.

A fine performer at both ends of the pitch, Baku is likely to be wanted by many in Europe.

He could be a great back-up for natural centre-backs Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu for the Gunners.

Left-back – Leonardo Spinazzola (Roma)

At left-back, we have Euro 2020 Team of The Tournament addition and Italy star Leonardo Spinazzola

He hasn’t had his Roma deal extended beyond this summer just yet, opening the door for his suitors.

He was linked with Manchester United in the summer, too, following Luke Shaw’s injury.

Euro 2020’s fastest player would be a great signing for the Red Devils.

Centre-back – Lucas Beraldo (Sao Paulo)

Liverpool have been linked with a January move for Sao Paulo’s 19-year-old centre-back, according to The Sun.

The Brazil Under-20s star has been on the Reds’ radar for months and would be a great, fresh option for Jurgen Klopp.

With Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk getting older, it’s vital the next generation of defenders, like Jarell Quansah are coming through at Anfield.

Centre-back – Bryan Cristante (Roma)

Alongside Beraldo is another Roma star, Bryan Cristante.

Primarily a defensive midfielder, he can slot into that centre-back role too.

Roma manager Jose Mourinho‘s former club Tottenham are keen on him, according to Italian outlets.

Midfielder – Luka Modric (Real Madrid)

Alongside Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos, Luka Modric will be a free agent come the summer.

It may be wishful thinking to want the impressive Croat back in the Premier League.

However, despite the former Tottenham star being 37 years old now (yes, that makes us feel old too) he’s still got plenty of life left in his career yet.

Midfielder – Ruben Neves (Al Hilal)

Despite moving on from Molineux for Al Hilal just five months ago, former Wolves captain Ruben Neves could make a return to England’s top flight.

talkSPORT revealed that he was one of the top names shortlisted by Newcastle for a loan after Sandro Tonali‘s ban.

Now, though, talkSPORT understands Arsenal could hijack that move.

Midfielder – Gabriel Moscardo (Corinthians)

Corinthians star Gabriel Moscardo is the third midfielder that makes the XI.

The Brazilian wonderkid has claimed Chelsea gave him a proposal in the summer.

He’s also being targeted by Arsenal according to reports.

Is there another Mykhailo Mudryk-esque transfer battle incoming?

Forward – Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain)

Kylian Mbappe‘s future is becoming more uncertain than it’s ever been, so it’ll be no surprise to any of you that he’s made this XI.

Real Madrid recently denied they were having talks with the 2018 World Cup winner despite his PSG contract expiring in June.

Is this the perfect opportunity for a Premier League club to swoop in?

Forward – Victor Osimhen (Napoli)

Leading the line is a man that is now becoming synonymous with transfer window chatter.

Scoring 26 goals in 32 Serie A games as his side won the league, the 24-year-old has been linked with Manchester United and Chelsea.

His fellow countryman John Obi Mikel recently said he’d ‘make sure’ a deal happens with the Blues when joined by Osimhen on his podcast.

Forward – Nico Williams (Athletic Bilbao)

Predominantly a left winger with the ability to play on the right, the Athletic Bilbao star is reportedly garnering interest from many Premier League clubs.

Aston Villa, Liverpool and Arsenal are among the teams that have been linked with the 21-year-old.

With his contract up in June, Williams is likely to find more sides on his trail too.
