Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Reaffirms Support for Lebanon During Official Visit

One day after the visit of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya arrived in Lebanon on Friday morning for an official visit.

Al-Yahya’s visit began with a meeting with Lebanese President Michel Aoun at the Baabda Palace. During their discussion, the Kuwaiti foreign minister emphasized that the purpose of his visit was to reaffirm Kuwait's support and commitment to Lebanon.

"Our visit is to offer support, endorsement, and express our commitment to stand by Lebanon," Al-Yahya stated, stressing the importance of activating the joint Lebanese-Kuwaiti committees to address the various issues based on Lebanon’s needs.

For his part, President Aoun expressed his confidence in Kuwait’s ongoing assistance to Lebanon.

"I am confident that you will not hesitate to provide assistance to your Lebanese brothers, who are eagerly awaiting your return to be among your people and loved ones," the president remarked.

"Following the formation of a new government, we will engage with the Gulf countries to establish a new framework for cooperation, the key points of which were outlined in the inaugural speech that laid the foundations for state-building," he stressed. "The unity of Arab countries is essential to confront the current challenges."

Furthermore, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Al-Budaiwi, arrived in Beirut on Friday to meet with Lebanon's new president.

Al-Budaiwi reaffirmed the GCC’s support for Lebanon and its sovereignty, while stressing non-interference in the country’s internal affairs. He also highlighted the importance of preparing a Gulf program for Lebanon, in coordination with the Lebanese government.

The visit by both Al-Yahya and Al-Budaiwi underscores ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen Lebanon’s ties with the Gulf states, particularly as the country faces significant political and economic challenges.
