Kataeb Party Condemns Pressure Campaign Against Lebanon’s U.S. Ambassador

The Lebanese Kataeb Party has condemned what it described as smear campaigns and political pressure targeting Lebanon's ambassador to the United States, Nada Hamadeh Mouawad, warning against attempts to undermine her role in representing the Lebanese State and defending its interests.

In a statement, the party’s Foreign Affairs Department rejected attempts to challenge Mouawad’s position, saying Lebanon’s diplomatic representatives must be protected from domestic political disputes.

“Lebanon’s foreign policy is determined by its constitutional institutions and must not be dictated by any political party,” the department said. “Accusations of disloyalty must not be used to intimidate diplomats or prevent them from carrying out their duties.”

The department also stressed that State institutions, including judicial and security agencies, have a responsibility to help implement government decisions, each within its legal authority and in accordance with the law.

Their role, it said, should be to uphold the sovereign vision sought by the majority of Lebanese people, rather than become tools for obstructing it.

The department called on all parties to act with national responsibility to protect Lebanon’s representatives abroad and reject attempts to turn them into targets in domestic political conflicts.
