Kataeb Leader Receives German Delegation in Saifi

Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel received German Lawmaker Paul Ziemiak accompanied by Michael Bauer, Director of Lebanon office at KAS political foundation, as well as Representatives of Christian Democratic Union Party of Germany (CDU), which has been the partner of the Kataeb Party since the 1960s. 

Talks focused on developments in Lebanon, especially the crises it is experiencing at the political, financial and economic levels, in addition to the situation of Syrian refugees.

Emphasis was placed on the partnership between the two parties and the need to strengthen it.

Discussions were held on the role that the German State in particular and the European Union in general could play to help Lebanon emerge from its multiple crises.

The Kataeb Leader considered that many basic steps shall be taken to enter the stage of recovery. The most important one would be addressing the problem of Hezbollah's illegal weapons to ensure the return of democratic work to institutions.

As for the economy, they discussed the importance of supporting small enterprises and municipalities to face the crisis and stand firm in the face of their challenges.

The visiting delegation stressed the uniqueness of the Lebanese model and the necessity of preserving it.

At the end of the visit, Gemayel accompanied his visitors on a tour around the Kataeb Headquarters in Saifi.

He explained the damage it had suffered due to Beirut Blast.

The meeting was also attended by Kataeb Lawmaker Elias Hankach as well as the party's International Secretary Marwan Abdallah.
