Journalist Shot Dead by Husband During Sharia Court Session

A tragic incident unfolded earlier on Thursday at the Shhim Sharia Court where journalist Abir Rahal was fatally shot by her husband, Khalil Massoud, inside the courthouse.

The attack is reported to have stemmed from personal conflicts between the couple. Rahal, originally from the town of Daraya, died instantly from the gunfire.

Security forces promptly arrived at the scene, and investigations into the incident have been launched.

Shortly after committing the crime, Massoud posted a video on his Facebook account, in which he spoke about the details of his disputes with Rahal, including financial disagreements allegedly linked to a local online platform he claimed to have established.

In the video, Massoud accused an officer from Lebanon’s Internal Security Forces of taking sides in favor of his late spouse during their legal battles.

He concluded the recording with a chilling statement: “By the time you watch this video, I will have departed from this world,” and captioned it with the words: “Ending your life yourself.”

Later, a security source confirmed that Massoud's body was found after he had taken his own life.

Preliminary reports indicate that Massoud and Rahal had three children together. Massoud was previously married and has children from his earlier relationship.
