Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Al-Safadi met with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, in Riyadh on Monday, voicing support for Lebanon’s efforts to reassert control over its territory and strengthen state authority amid ongoing hostilities.
In a statement, Jordan’s Foreign Ministry said the two diplomats “underscored the need to halt Israeli aggression in Lebanon and reaffirmed commitment to the ceasefire agreement reached on November 27, 2024.” They also expressed support for the Lebanese government’s efforts “to assert sovereignty across all its territories, activate its institutions, and ensure that arms are confined to the State.”
The statement highlighted regional backing for Lebanon’s security and governance, stressing the importance of reinforcing state institutions and preventing armed groups from operating outside government authority.
