Israel's conditions for ending the ongoing war on Lebanon include several military and territorial demands aimed at securing the country's border and limiting Hezbollah’s influence in southern Lebanon, according to a report by the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth.
The first demand consists in establishing a three-kilometer buffer zone inside Lebanese territory as a security measure that would keep Hezbollah fighters away from Israeli territory. This zone would effectively prevent the return of residents to villages along Lebanon’s southern border, leaving a significant portion of the population displaced.
In addition to the buffer zone, Israel is demanding that a further 7-kilometer area within southern Lebanon be placed under the supervision of both the Lebanese army and international peacekeeping forces. This condition aims to strengthen monitoring in a region where Hezbollah’s presence has historically posed challenges to Israel's stability.
Another key condition outlined by Israel is the freedom to conduct military operations in cases where Hezbollah militants are suspected of operating within Lebanese territory. This would grant Israel the right to engage militarily without prior warning, under the justification of pre-empting potential attacks by Hezbollah.
