The Israeli military said Sunday that more than 150 Hezbollah operatives, including several field commanders, were killed in a wave of airstrikes carried out in the day before the ceasefire in Lebanon took effect.
According to the Israeli army, the strikes were launched on Thursday and targeted around 300 Hezbollah positions across Lebanon. These included rocket launchers, command centers, and weapons depots.
The military said the operation resulted in the killing of more than 150 Hezbollah fighters, among them the commander of the Bint Jbeil area, Ali Reda Abbas, along with other senior field commanders.
According to the Israeli army, Abbas was the fourth commander of the Bint Jbeil sector to be killed by Israel over the course of the wider multi-front conflict in recent years.
It added that since hostilities with Lebanon escalated in parallel with the Iran conflict—after Hezbollah resumed rocket and drone attacks on Israel—more than 1,800 members of the group have been killed inside Lebanon.
