Hochstein Optimistic as Lebanon-Israel Talks Edge Closer to Resolution

U.S. envoy Amos Hochstein conveyed optimism after his recent talks in Beirut, highlighting substantial progress in bridging the gaps between Lebanon and Israel to move closer to resolving their ongoing dispute.

"Since my previous visit to Beirut a few weeks ago, we’ve had very constructive conversations with Speaker Nabih Berri and have continued closing the gaps over recent weeks. In particular, today marked a significant step forward," Hochstein shared following his meeting with Parliament Speaker Berri.

He underscored the importance of the timing for these negotiations.

"I returned because there’s a genuine chance to end this conflict. This is a critical moment for decision-making. I’m here in Beirut to support that process, but ultimately, it’s up to the parties to conclude this conflict. We’re close, and with the window open, I hope the coming days will bring a decisive resolution," he said.

Hochstein refrained from public questions to maintain the confidentiality of the discussions but reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a resolution.

He emphasized the productive nature of his exchanges with Speaker Berri and mentioned planned meetings with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and other officials.

"I am fully dedicated to working with the governments of Lebanon and Israel to help bring an end to this conflict," Hochstein reiterated.
