Hezbollah MP Hails Iran’s Continued Support in Address to Parliament

Hezbollah MP Mohammad Raad on Tuesday called on the government to reverse its decision to suspend flights to and from Tehran, warning that such measures undermine national sovereignty and harm the interests of a large segment of Lebanese citizens.

Speaking during a parliamentary session on the new government's ministerial statement, Raad cautioned against what he described as dangerous compliance with foreign pressures, arguing that it contradicts Lebanon’s sovereignty and could have negative repercussions for many Lebanese.

Raad also expressed gratitude to Iraq and Iran for their continued support of Lebanon, despite what he described as ongoing efforts to isolate and sanction them.

“We thank the Republic of Iraq and the Islamic Republic of Iran for what they have provided and will continue to provide to Lebanon and its people in support of its causes, despite all the maneuvering against them and the ongoing blockade they face,” he said.

Turning to global military dynamics, Raad criticized the increasing militarization of international powers, claiming that it has rendered global conscience meaningless.

“When major powers accumulate vast military capabilities, global conscience becomes nothing more than ink on paper. These nations permit and even shield acts of genocide,” he stated.

Concluding his remarks, Raad addressed the government's responsibilities, stressing the need for a precise and thorough assessment of Lebanon’s challenges.

“The ‘Reform and Rescue’ government faces an objective challenge that requires an accurate diagnosis of the current situation. We will move past the debates over the government’s formation and the alleged criteria behind its composition. We will cooperate with it and grant our confidence as a sign of respect for the principle of participation,” he said.
