A drone strike by the Israeli army in the Hermel District on Thursday resulted in the death of Mohammed Mahdi Ali Shaheen, a Hezbollah operative allegedly involved in procuring weapons for the group.
According to the Israeli military, Shaheen was involved in coordinating weapons procurement transactions along the Syria-Lebanon border, adding that he had been engaged in these activities since the ceasefire agreements between Israel and Lebanon came into effect.
Shaheen was described by the Israeli army as a prominent member of Hezbollah's regional division in the Bekaa Valley. His role reportedly involved facilitating the smuggling of weapons from Syria into Lebanon, negotiating deals with suppliers and smugglers, and overseeing the distribution of arms to various Hezbollah units.
The Israeli army emphasized that Shaheen's activities posed a threat to Israel's security and represented a violation of the ceasefire understandings between the two countries.
