Hankach: We Will Oppose Any Initiative that Does Not Serve the Interests of Lebanese

Kataeb Lawmaker Elias Hankach clarified that "the visit of Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel, to France is not his first, especially meeting with officials responsible for the Lebanese file, namely Patrick Durel."

"Everything falls under the framework of the presidential initiative led by France. Any initiative that does not serve the interests of the Lebanese people will be opposed by us as political force and opposition," Hankach noted in an interview with Al-Jadeed TV.

"We need a president who enjoys the confidence of the world and the Lebanese people, while quotas are rejected," he pointed out.

Hankach expressed his opposition against any proposals for exchange between a President of the Republic from the March 8 Camp and a Prime Minister belonging to the March 14 Camp.

He also confirmed that Gemayel was not a presidential candidate adding, "We are discussing with the opposition forces a name that can garner more support than Michel Mouawad, based on constants and qualifications."
