Hankach Says Musk-Aoun Call Signals Trust Rebuilding, Opens Door to Tech Opportunities

MP Elias Hankach said Elon Musk’s recent phone call with President Joseph Aoun was more than a symbolic gesture, describing it as a meaningful step toward restoring international trust and laying the foundation for a genuine technological ecosystem in Lebanon.

“Elon Musk’s call to President Joseph Aoun was more than a courtesy; it was a message of restored trust and a signal of the beginning of a real ecosystem for tech innovation in Lebanon," he wrote on his X account.

Hankach suggested the conversation between Musk and Aoun marked a potential turning point for Lebanon’s innovation landscape and its economically battered youth.

“Trust is being rebuilt, the environment is being prepared, and opportunities are being created for our youth,” he wrote. “Lebanon is capable if the will and vision are there.”

The remarks came a day after Aoun’s office confirmed that the Lebanese president had received a phone call from the billionaire businessman. According to the official readout, Musk expressed strong interest in Lebanon’s telecommunications and internet sectors, and discussed potential cooperation through his companies, notably the satellite internet provider Starlink.
