Kataeb Lawmaker Elias Hankach stressed on Thursday that the pressure imposed by the opposition would restore balance in the parliament in a bid to break the presidential stalemate.
“The opposition’s pressure ,whether through supporting the Beirut blast case or refusing the holding of any legislative session amid presidential vacuum, may restore balance in the parliament,” Hankach said in an interview with Voice of Lebanon radio station.
In the same context, he pointed out that the Lebanese officials were failing to assume their responsibilities as people are experiencing humiliation, poverty, and anxiety about their future.
“If these officials have national conscience, they would have acted in a better and a more productive manner, ” he affirmed.
Hankach stressed the deteriorated situation the Lebanese are experiencing every single day whether the skyrocketing prices or the volatile exchange rate on the black market.
“The pressures of living and the unity of the opposition can both lead to a balance in the this political ram,” he added.
“All the given promises were empty starting from fixing the exchange rate, dealing with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and approving the Capital Control law. The main problem is that this ruling elite is failing to assume its responsibilities amid the collapse of the Lebanese State,” he stated.
“ We have two choices: get the country out of these non-ending crises or surrender to the system that brought Lebanon 30 years to this deteriorated situation,” he concluded.
