Hankach: No Country Can Force Lebanon to Keep Syrian Refugees on Its Territory

Kataeb Lawmaker Elias Hankach noted on Saturday that European Parliament's latest resolution simulates getting rid of illegal weapons in Lebanon, pushing towards accountability and reducing corruption, and reaching the truth in the file of the Beirut Port explosion.

Regarding provision 13 of the resolution, he considered that no country in the world could force Lebanon to keep the Syrian refugees on its territory.

“The Lebanese people should use all democratic means to express their rejection of keeping refugees in Lebanon. No country can give us lessons on human rights and hospitality,” Hankach said in an interview with LBCI.

He affirmed that Syria is a safe country and capable of returning its people to their land, as Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is concluding tourism agreements and Syrian refugees in Lebanon are traveling to their country during the weekend.

“6,000 Kataeb martyrs sacrificed their lives in the rejection of settling Palestinians and giving them Lebanon as an alternative homeland. We will use all democratic means to prevent the 'settlement' of Syrians in Lebanon,” he pointed out.

"We are taking a preemptive strike against any normalization with the current reality we are experiencing. What we are doing, such as visits to foreign countries, is better than waiting for House Speaker Nabih Berri to call for a presidential election session,” he concluded.
