The Army Command - Orientation Directorate issued the following statement:

On 10/22/2022 while a car containing citizen (M.M.) and (M.H.) of Egyptian nationality was passing at the Ras El Mal-Hermel checkpoint, militaries suspected that they were wanted, so one of the citizens tried to throw a grenade at the militaries, but it exploded away from them. There were no injuries.

The two people were arrested and it was found that (M.M.) is wanted under arrest warrants for shooting on previous dates, and that the car was stolen. A military weapon, a hand grenade and a quantity of drugs were also found in their possession.

The detainees were handed over with the seized items, and the investigation was launched under the supervision of the competent authorities.
