Gemayel: We Will Not Participate in a Government Whose Majority Is from Hezbollah, We Will Not Vote for a President Who Supports Its Weapons

Kataeb leader Samy Gemayel voiced its pride that the party was at the heart of “Shamal Al Mouwajaha” electoral list, saying that the opposition will win and will enter the Parliament with a large bloc.

“We will not participate in a government when its majority is from Hezbollah and we will not vote for a president who supports its weapons.  We will not let them escape accountability after the elections. We will face Hezbollah's attempts to hold sway over the country and the authorities' attempts to escape accountability, starting with political accountability, passing through the judiciary, and ending with financial accountability,” Gemayel said from Batroun.

“We will keep on fighting to bring them down as they are processing in a direction against the interests of Lebanon and they are handing the country’s sovereignty over to an armed militia,” he noted.

“We want sovereign change first; we call on our people in Batroun to choose the guaranteed option that does not participate in the settlements, that made a clear choice and that had the courage to resign,” he pointed out.

"Trust what you see and trust the experiences, not slogans. Evaluate the facts and compare words with actions,” he said addressing the Lebanese voters.

The Kataeb leader said that the Kataeb party was fighting this electoral battle alongside people who resemble it, whose aim is to rebuild this country.

“Our choice in these elections was difficult but necessary for the interest of Lebanon, we are proud that we are fighting this battle to win and raise the Kataeb flag in Batroun,” he emphasized.

“They distorted, talked, lied, did everything and failed, and today we are in the forefront and every vote counts,” he added.

“Each one of us should work day and night to say that we want this young man named Majd Harb who believes in the principles of the Kataeb party and in the Lebanese sovereignty, independence, neutrality, decentralization, transparency and integrity,” he said addressing the Lebanese voters.

“Majd Harb ressembles us and we have decided to combine our efforts together ," he stressed.

“There are many electoral lists in Batroun and many are calling for the truth. Let's be realistic, there are three lists that have participated in everything we've come to whether in successive governments or in the presidential elections,” he affirmed.

“We want you to choose who takes a clear decision and who has the audacity to resign from the Parliament. If you choose rightly the forces of change and the opposition bloc will be one of the largest blocs and we will be facing Hezbollah and its hegemony and any attempt to escape accountability,” he stressed.

He stressed that the Kataeb party would protect itself from any future settlement as making promises is easy before the elections.

"We made a promise last time and we saw the result but whoever wants to give them a chance is free to do so,” he said.

“They said that they were giving the Christians their rights back while we were warning them that they were handing the country over to Hezbollah,” he added.

Gemayel called on the Lebanese people to hold every responsible of this deteriorated accountable.

“Evaluate all the facts and hold whoever elected Michel Aoun, renewed Riad Salameh’s term and voted for fake budgets accountable,” he said.

“Do no compromise and hold every responsible accountable!” he concluded.

The celebration was attended by members of “Shamal Al Mouwajaha” electoral list Michel Mouawad, Majd Harb, Jawad Boulos, Toni Mardini, Joelle Houwayeck, Rachid Rahme, Brigitte Kheir, Adib Abdel Masih and Emile Fayad.

The celebration included the honoring of the Kataeb partisans of Batroun district.

Gemayel also visited Koura and Bechmazine, where a oath-ceremony was held for a number of new partisans.
