Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel received a delegation from the American Task Force for Lebanon (ATFL), headed by Ambassador Edward Gabriel, at the party’s headquarters in Saifi. The meeting focused on the current political landscape in Lebanon and the region.
The meeting was attended by MP Nadim Gemayel, Political Bureau member Zeina Hobeika, Head of the Foreign Affairs Department Marwan Abdallah, and former Pharmacists’ Syndicate president Joe Salloum. The ATFL delegation included former U.S. Ambassador Elizabeth Richard, Dr. Paul Salem, Dr. Randa Slim, Elisa Ewers, Jay Ghazal, Firas Maksad, Ryan Halawi, Mona Yacoubian, and Carel Touma from the U.S. Embassy in Lebanon.
Gemayel stressed the need to support the Lebanese Army so it can carry out its duties, enforce State authority across all Lebanese territory, and implement a plan to ensure that all weapons are held exclusively by the State.
Following the meeting, Ambassador Gabriel said the delegation’s visit to Lebanon aims to gain first-hand insight into the approaches and policies shaping Washington’s handling of the Lebanese file. He described the meetings held so far as "good and productive," allowing the Task Force to convey an accurate picture of how U.S. institutions are dealing with ongoing developments.
Gabriel added that the team's recent tour of Gulf countries also provided a clear idea of how regional states view the situation in Lebanon, stressing that these insights “will help shape a clearer vision of what we should convey to our interlocutors in Washington.”
He concluded by affirming that the delegation will return to the United States “with valuable insights and a deeper understanding of the realities on the ground in Lebanon, enabling us to continue our work in support of Lebanon’s stability and sovereignty.”
