Gemayel Says Lebanon's Interests Must Be Central to Any Settlement in Meeting with Massad Boulos

During his visit to Washington, D.C., Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel held a meeting with Massad Boulos, the head of President-elect Donald Trump’s Arab outreach campaign. The meeting, also attended by Kataeb MP Nadim Gemayel, focused on the prospects for peace in Lebanon and the wider region under Trump’s potential next administration.

Gemayel conveyed his well-wishes to Trump and his team for the upcoming term, commending the president-elect’s stated commitment to achieving peace in the region and his expressed interest in Lebanon’s stability as outlined in his written letter to the Lebanese-American community prior to his election.

Gemayel stressed that any settlement for Lebanon must prioritize the country’s highest interests by ensuring its sovereignty through the restoration of Lebanese decision-making power and the exclusive control of arms by the Lebanese Army and legitimate state forces. He emphasized that a credible settlement must enable Lebanon’s constitutional institutions to function fully, which he described as crucial for steering the country towards reform, recovery, and sustainable stability.

Following the meeting, MP Nadim Gemayel took to X (formerly Twitter) to share details, saying that “this is an opportunity for Lebanon to be a priority for the U.S. administration, and for us all to work together towards stability and peace in the region.”

“We praised the new U.S. President’s desire to achieve peace as quickly as possible, his focus on Lebanon and its stability, and his pursuit of long-term peace in the region, as outlined in his written commitment to the Lebanese people," he wrote.
