Hezbollah is rebuilding—that’s a fact. Both US and Israeli officials warned that the group had started to rebuild its military infrastructure right after the war ended in November 2024 with the ceasefire agreement. With its links to Iran intact, and its political/financial foundations protected, Hezbollah was able to rebuild some of its arsenal, reinstate part of its chain of command, and restore some of the cash it had lost.

Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel wrote on “X” platform: “The official state moved from a de facto hostage situation to officially announcing its surrender to the coup and entrusting its authority and the fate of its people directly to Hezbollah."
"It is upon the Lebanese people and the international community to act on this basis,” Gemayel added.
Speaking during an interview with Lebanese TV channel Al Jadeed, caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati said on Friday that no one had promised him that there would not be a war as the situation was constantly changing.
