Gemayel Meets with General Labor Confederation Head, Pharmacists' Syndicate Head

Kataeb Leader Samy Gemayel on Tuesday met with General Labor Confederation Head, Dr. Bechara Al-Asmar,and Pharmacists' Syndicate Head, Joe Salloum, who briefed him on the details of the general strike called forth by the union on February 8 all throughout Lebanon.

Asmar said that the strike that is planned to take place in February was of a comprehensive nature, taking into account the country’s general security situation. 

He also stressed the importance of swift election of a president of the republic and the formation of an effective executive authority, noting that the continuous rise in the US dollar exchange rate will lead to disasters that can impact the health, economic and social sectors.

Asmar also praised Gemayel for his utmost efforts and his relentless pursuit of election a head of state.

For his part, Lebanese Order of Pharmacists Head Joe Salloum called for an immediate election of a new Lebanese president, warning that otherwise the lengthily awaited president will be elected by “the street”.
