On the assassination anniversary of MP Antoine Ghanem, Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel honored the memory of his fallen comrade, reflecting on his enduring presence and remarkable legacy.
"Seventeen years have passed, and Antoine Ghanem is always present," Gemayel wrote on his X account.
He hailed Ghanem as both a dedicated field activist and an eloquent orator, highlighting his role as a paragon of courage and steadfast party commitment.
Ghanem, along with his colleagues, was tragically assassinated during Lebanon's Second Independence Battle which refers to a series of political and military struggles that culminated in the withdrawal of Syrian troops from the country and the assertion of Lebanese sovereignty.
This period was marked by intense efforts to suppress free voices and dissenting opinions. Despite these attempts, Gemayel emphasized, Ghanem's and his fellow martyrs' voices continued to serve as a guiding compass for their cause.
In his closing remarks, Gemayel reaffirmed his commitment to the principles that Ghanem stood for.
"Your party, my comrade, remains true to its promise and will not waver," Gemayel affirmed. "Long live Lebanon."
