Gemayel Hails Bold Step to Investigate Decades-Old Political Assassinations

Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel praised the appointment of judicial investigators to handle Lebanon’s longstanding political assassination cases, describing the move as a vital step toward uncovering the truth, delivering justice, and ensuring accountability.

The appointments, made by Justice Minister Adel Nassar, target some of the country’s most high-profile and historically significant cases, including the assassinations of former Minister Pierre Gemayel and MP Antoine Ghanem, among others. These cases, some dating back decades, have long been emblematic of the culture of impunity that has plagued Lebanon, leaving many political murders unresolved.

“Hats off to the Justice Minister for this bold move to uphold the truth, reinforce the rule of law, and put an end to the culture of impunity," Gemayel wrote on X.
