Kataeb Party leader Samy Gemayel met with French Ambassador Hervé Magro on Monday to discuss recent developments in Lebanon and the broader regional landscape.
Talks focused on Hezbollah’s weapons and the role of the UN-led Tripartite Committee tasked with monitoring the cessation of hostilities. Both men emphasized the need for the Lebanese State to assert full authority across the country and ensure that all arms remain exclusively under its control, in accordance with the Constitution, Lebanese laws, and relevant international resolutions.
The discussions also highlighted the importance of Lebanon’s commitment to implementing required reforms, as well as the role of the international community, particularly France, in exerting pressure on all relevant parties, notably Israel, to guarantee proper enforcement of international agreements.
The talks further touched on domestic political developments, with a focus on upcoming parliamentary elections and key reforms deemed critical to revitalizing Lebanon’s struggling economy.
The meeting, held at the Kataeb's headquarter in Saifi, was attended by Kataeb Deputy President Dr. Nabil Hokayem, Political Bureau member Alain Hakim, Head of the Party’s Foreign Affairs Department Marwan Abdallah, and French Embassy Political Adviser Romain Calvary.
